I'm planning to buy a XPS 15 l521x as a gift for my birthday/christmas/new year/high school graduation. But there are obviously some really serious issues around this laptop.

One of which is the wifi..
Has anyone tried to replace the wifi module with another compatible module? The one in there is the Advanced-N 6230? ish? Let's say to replace it with the Ultimate-N 6300. Will it work?

Also.. can someone explain to me what the display grid issue is? I do some photography for my school and likely to be invited back as the school official photographer, I want my display to be perfect..

    Hi,

Could you please let me know the country from which you are ordering the system? I can check and let you know about the WLAN cards that are compatible. Also for setting up the display grid you would need to have the monitor grids along with an adapter to control it. The display resolution on the grid monitor will be limited to the maximum resolution of the graphics card. So you may consider customizing the system with the high end graphics card available.

I hope this helps. Please do write back in case you need any further assistance.

    Thanks and Regards

It has been tested a number of times, replacing the wlan card does not appear to be a factor in "fixing" the performance and connectivity issues.

Then again you may get lucky. My XPS 15 has a stronger WiFi signal than my previous MacBook Pro 15 2011. Bill once said that he had two XPS 15's side by side and the difference was night and day.

Also the display grid "issue" is not really an issue. The screen is better than my Macbook and my XPS m1530 before that and that's all that matters to me.
