Hey, I have an M1530 and I have noticed that my spacebar is a bit uneven, and a bit unresponsive at some times. I have the 3 year complete care warranty, and have already had a guy come out and replace my speakers. I was wondering if I could just ask them to send me a keyboard and have me replace it because I dont really have any time now to have the guy come. I work in the morning and right afterward I go to school. I need my laptop at school so I cant leave it home for someone elase to be here and have them replace it. If this can be done, i will go about it, if not, I will just deal with the keyboard.

Call up Dell and ask. It's quite easy to replace the keyboard yourself.

Yes, Dell Tech Support told me also that they can send a keyboard for me to install by myself. Either I can refer to the manual on the Dell website or Tech Support will guide me on the phone. AND if I don't feel comfortable doing it myself, they can send a person out to my home to do it for me.

I have talked to, I think, 4 Dell Tech Support people (3 from the Philippines and 1 from the US) and they were all knowledgeable and helped me exactly the way I needed. Maybe my issues were basic but they seemed to all be on the same page (i.e., they had to have had some good, standardized training).

I just got my M1330 back from Best Buy. Took 2 weeks!!! to get it repaired. The new keyboard has a different design on the keyboard. The original keyboard had the spacebar mounted on one switch which is incredibly stupid design as nothing happens when you press the sides of the spacebar.

The new spacebar feels like it has at least two switches and the response is even across the whole spacebar. Dell has experimented with and had problems with the spacebar before - in their keyboards. I generally love their keyboards but I do have one bad one where the action is horrible but still usable. Sometimes you really have to hit the spacebar to get it to register. The keyboard was a castoff (it had been replaced with something that worked) and I just kept it around as a spare for laptops. At any rate, I'm happy to have my wonderful M1330 back in my hands and ready for work.
