I have a Dell M1210 that the battery seems to be dying. It use to last about 4-5 hours and now I'm lukcy to get a little over an hour on a charge. Are there any generic batteries for the M1210 that are just as good or better than the Dell battery ($$$)? I've seen several on Ebay but I just don't trust them.

At buy.com and duracelldirect.com, are those no-name batteries or are they actually Dell brand?

Don't you have to be careful with the no-name brands because they might not have enough layers of protection and could destroy your computer? At any rate, if you go with a no-name, there are tons of them on Ebay for under $60.

My M1210 battery died after 2 years so I'm in the same situation. I'm thinking about going with www.batteryrefill.com. They refill (or replace???) the cells from your existing Dell battery for anywhere between $69 and $79. You have to ship in your Dell battery. Many people have been satisfied, aside from the sometimes long wait, and report their batteries lasting longer than when shipped new from Dell. I'm thinking about doing this for my M1210.

The only issue is the M1210 doesn't appear among the listing for Dell laptop models. However, I think they can refill any battery and it doesn't matter if it's on their list or not. I haven't called to find out yet, so maybe you can do it and report back here.

There is a long-running thread about batteryrefill.com on this forum:
