With my current laptop i'm having static problems and my speakers no longer work after a motherboard change. So dell is shipping me a new laptop. I talked to the dell guy yesterday around 7, I was wondering if i can call dell and tell them to put a LG screen on my computer because i'm really afraid of getting a grainy screen and having to call dell again. From what i've read the Part # for the LG is NU763, is this correct? Can i even demand a specific screen?

I read (on these forums) that you can ask but Dell is not likely to be able to really act upon your request. They source LCDs from several manufacturers, so they (especially the sales reps) may not have any real control over which one gets used in which laptop.

You are right; they cannot. Your order is simply resubmitted and is the exact part list that you will find on Dell.com if you look up your warranty and 'original configuration'.

You may get a different screen by fluke if there has been a problem identified with the other manufacturer and they stopped using them.

There is no way, however, they can request a specific model of screen and, even if they could, your next hurdle would be somehow changing your original system configuration which is what is used for the replacement.

You can still replace it after you get your laptop. If it's bad they will send you a replacement. when you do that tell them you want part # XK309. this is the 15.4" 1050X1680 LG LCD.
the part number you mentioned above is for the 800X1280. if that what you want then it's fine.

My current laptop has a LG so does that mean my new one will also have an LG?

    No

Screen, screen and more screens I want!!!
Best thing to do is download your service manual for you PC on Dell site..
Aid yourself with some screwdrivers....Drum rollllllllllllllllllllllllll..Now if your new/replacement comes and your current PC you thing has the better screen just exchange them over....
