For the first time I took out the battery and recognized a lot of scratches at the bottom of the screen which i havent notice when opening the lid in general.

This expensive laptop shouldnt have these scratches, even if u cant see them except removing the battery.

I notice that the battery is a bit bended in the middle. Dell told me it could be the screen that is often bended but I suggested sending another battery just in case.

    Anyone else had this problem?

This is a common problem, I think. Are they giving you another RGB? Don't risk your screen unless they can give you the same screen as it's bound to have scratches again over some time.

This has been a problem with every XPS 16 i've worked with in the past, including the brand new replacement 1647 I received last week.

The design seems to be bad in a number of areas (cooling, tolerance between keyboard/screen, tolerance between battery/screen)

I put the dell branded cloth the unit came with over the screen every time I close it to protect it from the keyboard scratching it (that's what the rubber feet are for on the left/right side of the keyboard, but they don't do their job)

Also, both my extended battery and the stock battery are slightly elevated on the left edge above the plastic heatsink cover. This results in eventual wear on the screen itself (in the visible part) - I experienced this with my first unit and is the main reason why I keep the screen covered when closing it.

hey guys, after i got my screen and battery replaced and i put a cloth in between it stayed good for a while.

but due cleaning of my laptop, insides, taking battery out and having to remove cloth before inserting battery again it happened again. my first new scratch, a lot tinier the scratch though, and i guess only superficial not deep.

Is it possible to get another rubber like the ones that are attached on the screen already. Simply putting a third one in the middle that should solve the problem shouldnt it?

AND another question, is there a way to get rid of superficial scratches, they kinda look greyish not like common scratches?
