I just received my new Dell XPS Studio 1640. I reinstalled Vista and downloaded all the drivers on the dell website. The problem is I'm stuck at a 1024x768 resolution. That obviously isn't right. Can anybody help me out?

Hi bumbie, and Welcome to the NBR forums.

First of all, I would like to confirm the state of the drivers of your graphics processor (ATI Mobility RADEON HD 3670).

Click start, right click 'Computer' and go to 'Manage'.

Click 'Device Manager' in the left column of the window that opens from there and then tell me the items that are listed under Display adapters.
