So I just got my Dell Studio XPS 1645 about 3 weeks ago and there is a problem with it that's been bugging me for about a week and a half and that's that it will not always boot up. What I mean is that sometimes (more often than not) it will freeze when the Dell logo appears at the boot up at about 80% completion. I can solve this by shutting down the laptop by pressing the power button, waiting 10 seconds and rebooting it. Also whenever I close my screen when I log back in my wifi will not work at all. I'm going to call about solving these issues tommorow and it most likely will result in me sending in my XPS 1645 to them. But before I call, I just wanted to see what Dell's return policy is as well as ow long and how much the fix will take/cost.

    -Appreciate any help! =)

Also if I do send my laptop in, will they clean my harddrive or will all my documents and programs be untouched?

I would reinstall Windows before doing anything. Either cleanly using the DVD, or use the backup software to do it. See if that fixes it first.

Nothing to do with Windows if he gets stuck on the DELL Logo. Looks like a hardware issue.

It could mean trouble booting into the OS, or a BIOS issue.

A Bios Flash is probably a better course of action than a recovery.

Anyway, from what I've heard, you can always return a Dell laptop in the first month. There is a restocking fee of 10%ish but it may (and should) be waived if your laptop is defective and have a legitimate reason to return it. I have no experience with this, just what I've read.

Ok here is what you do.....

Call Dell Support and let them know you are having this problem.
If you have patience you can try some of the troubleshooting that they may have you do.
Dont wait too long.........you have 21 days for returns............once you go past the 21 days you are at Dell's mercy and they can force you to do some troubleshooting before they will send you a refurbished replacement.

If it doesnt seem to be working just let them know you want to return the notebook computer. They may tell you they want to send a replacement and that is up to you. The replacement could be refurbished.....
I think the best way is to ask for a refund and then order a new one all over again. There will be no restocking fee since you have a brand new computer with a defect. Just dont wait past 21 days!!!!!!

So that means that I will get a replacement if it seems like I have a hardware issue? Also when I said return policy I really meant what were the requirements to get a replacement laptop. Also if can anyone tell me how long the entire replacement process takes?
