    Hey guys,

I ordered the xps 15 3 weeks ago and it shipped quickly. Now fedex is holding it because I haven't been home when they tried to deliver it. Over BF however I ordered the same configuration for $200 less and am wondering what my options are as far as returning the first one, without incurring any restocking fees. Should I pick it up from fedex and talk to dell about returning it? Should I tell fedex to take it back? (I've read somewhere about refusing delivery or something) Any help would be very much appreciated!!

    Thanks

I understand that it is always better to refuse delivery and that way the tracking will say intact and you can have assurance that it was returned. You might want to tell fedex to go ahead and treat it as refused to they don't hang onto it for 10 days or so.

On dell's website under "returns" it specifically says not to refuse delivery because it will hold up your refund, etc.

Just call Dell and tell them that you want the lower price, and will return the laptop unopened if you don't get it. They'll likely just issue a partial refund, than go through the hassle of returning/reordering/reshipping it.

Thanks for the help. After 3+ hours on the phone I managed to get $110/200 refunded and cancelled the second order.
It's so stupid because they were ready to process a return with no restocking fee and I could have waited for the second order to come. They would have been out of $200 + the overnight shipping I was upgraded to for free on my second order + a returned laptop on their hands, which I assume would be sold as refurbished. Not to talk about the horrible wait times and transfers from one department to the next.... HORRIBLE customer service.

No problem, I'm glad that you were able to get Dell to refund you something at least.
