I just bought a new XPS L502X and I would like to upgrade to the new OCZ SATA 3 drive.

Does this MOBO support SATA 3? I really hope its not limited to a SATA 2 drive because because thats only max 280MB/s and the OCZ drive can do aprox. 500MB/s. Which is almost double!

Has anyone benchmarked this computer to see if we get > 300 MB/s (SATA 3) with an SSD ??

    Any help would be appreciated.

With the Vertex 3, you will get a big performance boost, and bsod's as an added bonus!

I haven't had a single BSOD with my Vertex 3. I've had it installed since April 12th.

I had to do the same registry fix for my Crucial M4. Never experienced BSOD, just stuttering. Been good as gold after the registry tweak.

Here's the benchmarks using AS SSD
    [IMG]

The stutter issue was driving me crazy until I applied the patch that's floating around which amends the Windows registry. Another oddity is that my 1st set of results were about 10% faster. I'm not sure why it has slowed a bit however it's still incredibly fast...

Zuffy, you're still up; where can I download AS SSD benchmarking tool? I can't find it in Bing.

AS SSD and CDM Results From L502X & 120GB Vertex 3 MAX IOPS. No stutters or BSOD's or any other issues since applying various registry tweaks found on these boards.

My read speeds have slowed about 5% since I added around 140GB worth of data on mine. Write speeds have not changed. Read/write speeds are still 10% faster than rated speeds, so I'm not worried about it.

This is of course after the patch, while still running RST.
