I discovered a very nasty issue today with Vista on the M1730 - worthy of its own thread.
I was watching TV and turned on my laptop with the MEDIA CENTER button instead of the power button.
The laptop gets locked into this perpetual loop where it will not boot as it says it cannot read a bitlocker - enhanced drive. But it never will present the standard OS partition as an option. One must run the VISTA DVD in recovery mode to restore the true boot partition.
I consider this a serious issue because the Media Center button is so very close to the power button. Pressing it by accident while away from home can render the entire laptop not useable. I may copy this DVD and keep a copy in my laptop bag 'just in case.'

I had the same problem on M1330 but I couldn't restore it using Vista DVD. I re-installed everything and I suggested that you install Vista completely, including all the updates, SP1, etc., before installing the Dell Media Center.

They need to restore the boot sector upon bitlocker failure OR disable mediadirect button option in BIOS until windows boots

I have installed windows XP (downgrade from vista business) on my XPS M1330.
Why i read your same error about "Bitlocker". Is not a tools exclusive of win vista?
