    Hello,

i am considering upgrading my L502x with a sata SSD. Poking around a bit i read that some manufacturers (namely Dell and Samsung) are using mSata ports in their notebooks. Does is apply to my model as well? i.e. will these SSDs work in my laptop?

Crucial RealSSD M4 Slim 2,5" SSD 256 GB
    Samsung 830series 2,5" 256 GB

    Regards, sensus

    Hi,

You may install the normal 2.5 inch SSD and it will work with the XPS L502X. Not only the 256GB, you may also look for 512GB SSD drives because it was also tested on the system.

Please find below the link for the Service manual of XPS L502X. You may use the same to view or download the manual and refer to the same if required.

I hope this helps, please do write back in case you need any further assistance.

    Thanks and regards,

I have a new 128GB M4 Crucial SSD (arrived 1 week ago) and it works perfectly.
The difference between a HDD and a SSD is huge. I totally recomend it.
L502x have a SATA 3 connection, so the SSD runs at top speeds :D

I'm digging this old post back up because I have a related question about installing an SSD in my L502X. I recently purchased a 240GB mSATA SSD for my wife's Dell XPS12 Ultrabook to replace the 128GB drive it shipped with. Since the XPS12 can only hold a single hard drive, I've now got a spare 128GB mSATA drive laying around. I'm wondering if there's any way possible to make this mSATA SSD work with my L502X. I'd basically like to use some combination of a SSD Caddy (replacing my CD ROM drive) and an mSATA adapter to allow this drive to fit into the Caddy. Does anyone know if this is possible and whether the computer would even recognize an mSATA drive if I was able to get all the necessary adapters to make it fit?
