I've had my laptop since June and have not been impressed with the graphics performance of the Hybrid SLI setup. I installed nHancer for the first time and started tinkering around with stuff and noticed that some of the games I was disappointed in weren't utilizing both GPUs by enabling the SLI Load Balancing Graph (Vsync has to be disabled for this to work). Upon further tinkering I noticed that for both GPUs to be used, the game profiles had to be modified with "Hybrid SLI mode" set to "1". Thought I'd share this information so everyone can try and get the most out of their computer.

Wow, thanks a lot! Where do you see this in game profiles? I play UT3 and OpenArena (Q3A, but open source), and would love the boost.

Just found the app, and I see that it uses "profiles." Are these the profiles you mean?

Yeah. Under the "SLI" tab there is a setting called "Hybrid SLI Mode" set it to "1" in what you want to use both cards. Some games it's already set to "1" just not all of them (atleast for me). There's plenty of other settings available, just have to play around and see what suites your system and games the best.

Same results for me. Games still perform better on integrated graphics only.

The game I noticed the most out of was Ghostbusters, it was set to 0. It went from right around an unpleasant 20fps to a playable 31-32fps by switching it to 1. Halo wasn't set to use both either, but since it's an old game it ran very well anyways.

Might try switching the games between the different sli modes too. Split Frame, Alternating Frame, etc.

No improvement for me either in Open Arena. I fiddled with a variety of settings, and all I got was a 3 fps drop at one point. :(

Looking at the specs for open arena it isn't a very demanding game and should run well on just about anything. Also, might want to tinker around with different video drivers.

Exactly. I should be getting closer to 200fps with my 2.66GHz CPU and the 9500M working properly. However, I only get 100fps with the 9400, and 84fps with SLI enabled. Yep, it drops in speed. Also, it's hard to tell if I'm getting a boost in UT3 or GT-R Evolution, but GT-R did want to increase the settings once with the 9400 enabled, and decrease it with SLI enabled. However, I've reinstalled since then and it hasn't prompted to decrease settings with SLI enabled yet.

I'm still puzzled how this works. For me, changing it to 1 is changing a setting that is already active unless for whatever reason the game you are running cannot "see" the Hybrid mode.. which would have to be an old game or a new game where they somehow forgot to include the coding for that.

The problem still lies in the drivers that have been developed, and to date, there are no drivers that can tap into the full performance of the 9500 continuously.

It is a mostly drivers. There should be no need to set a game to use both GPUs, the drivers should do it on their own. It isn't uncommon for some games to just not like any multi-GPU setup, especially some older ones.

Out of curiosity, what games are you playing that aren't getting any boost in sli, what driver version are you using, and what fps are you getting in each mode?
