Is it normal if BatteryBar is telling me I have 6% wear on my 6-cell if the laptop is only a month and half old?

Doesn't sound normal. Usually a battery start to show wear after around 300 charge cycles. Mine has 4 % wear after 300 cycles (10 months usage).

Well the battery wears quite fast if its getting hot. You must understand that a high temperatures fastens the wear, the batterie are basically chemicals that react to temperature increases.

yep, well i have a XPS 1340 w/ 6 cell and after 1 month or so i have 11.1% wear. I want a 9cell but cannot afford the weight/and the fact that it elevates the laptop

    This is bulls**t,
When You discharge battery lower than 10% you have notice biggest increasing of wear level. Wear level start rising from first full discharging.

    6% now is okey

Well, wear levels between 6-11% within a month or two, that's the real bull. But okay, maybe it is because Dells in general run hot, or people here use them for gaming. Or just hot room temperatures. I've only used ThinkPads and MacBooks, and it takes around 300 charge cycles for the battery to show any noticable wear (3-4%). I often discharge the battery to 1%, and I use it daily. After 300-400 charges though, the battery usually wears down quickly.

In some batteries wear level is not working fine and don't show real wear of cells. I Have HP 6710b, after 2 years WL is 0%, in asus f3f after 2 Years only 4%, m1530 in year I have 37% and dell send me new battery, now after 6 monts i have 15%, compal ifl90 with 2 years 9cell battery 2% but laptop working twice shorter than after buying.
Look at notebook MSI ex625, after week, people have 6% on Wear Level and after 4 months stay at the same level. All depends, how we take care of battery.
Discharging to 1% killing Li-Ion battery, battery is prepared for max 400 cycles, not more, that's why it is noting special that after 400 cycles battery usually discharge very quickly. When reading WL we could be certainly sure in what condition battery is in real.
