hey guys i just got my Studio XPS 16 in from the dell outlet. it looks perfect other then the fact that between the glass and the screen there are 2 small marks that are not dead or stuck pixels. i have one on the upper right and the other thats right in the middle. i was wondering if there was a way of fixing this as its anyouing the heck out of me.

    thanks

see if dell has a step by step on how to remove/replace the screen. that will show how to get to the point where you can clean the glass.

but be warned, once you open it, you had better be in a very dust free place or you may just attract more dust then you get rid of.

    Hi

I've just returned my XPS Studio 16 for the same fault. Customer services told me that the Dell Factory are aware of the problem and steps have been taken to remove the faulty units from stock. Keeping my fingers crossed that my replacement is ok.

You shouldn't take apart the screen assembly. It will just bring more dust - you'd need a clean roomto do it effectively. Either (a) send it back and ask for an exchange, or (b) tell them that you want a new screen assembly - they'll probably ship you a new one, and then you can just switch them.

Exactly as weirdo said. I sent mine to the depot for a screen replacement.

Never try to take it apart. You will most certaintly inadvertently get more dust in and it will probably void your warranty as well.

Customer: im looking for a way to remove the glass to wipe it down
Agent: I am sorry but the LCD of your system an assembly and cannot be opened.
Agent: it is edge to edge. it has no Bezel to remove.
Agent: if you have to remove the LCD, you have to break the plastics.
Customer:is there a way to prevent more dust from getting in there?
Agent: we can only clean it from the outside. I can only give you tips on LCD maintenance to avoid dirt from coming in.
Do not place anything heavy on your laptop
When using a carrying case or backpack, ensure that you are not over-stuffing the carrying case and applying extra pressure to the laptop case and LCD back
Do not scratch, twist or hit the surface of the LCD screen.
Avoid subjecting your LCD screen to extremes of temperature and humidity.
Avoid exposing your LCD screen to direct sunlight or strong fluorescent light for long periods of time.
Avoid hard physical shocks to the system.
