Hey, I think about ordering a Studio XPS 16 config with 320 gb HDD and 7.200 rpm.

Now I just saw that there is also a 500 GB / 7.200 HDD, for only 30.-€ more .

Ok, I know that a 7.200 HDD produces more heat than a 5.400, but what about a 7.200 compared to a bigger 7.200?
Do more Gigs also produce more heat?

Since I read much about the heat issues with SXPS16, I try to be on the safe side with as much power as possible.

Edit: Ps.: Does the HDD play a big part in the heat-issue-problem anyway or is it mainly the CPU?

It wont make a difference until you compare 7200 HDD vs SSD; just buy whichever capacity HDD you need. Most of the heat in the SXPS is from the CPU, WiFi, and GPU; the heat from the HDD may (may) come into play if you are continuously reading or writing for long periods of time (eg. transferring 10's of GB of data).

I have the 7200rpm 500gb one and tbh the heat is perfectly fine, most of the problems come from the southbridge because some bright spark thought it would be a good idea to use the chasis as a heatsink
