So I was on my laptop last night and I was going to watch a movie from my portable external hard drive on my Xbox 360. I then realized that the portable hard drive was in the wrong format, it needed to be in FAT32. I tried to format it normally by right clicking the drive and hitting format but FAT32 wasn't listed. So I then downloaded partition magic because I heard that would help in formatting my hard drive. So I downloaded it and installed it and tried to format it to FAT32 and it again wasn't listed. So then I went about uninstalling it. I went to add and remove programs and in the middle of uninstalling, my laptop blue screened and now windows won't start up. I have no idea what to do. I have tried a system restore but there is an error. I tried a system image recovery restore, but apparently I never made one when I got my laptop. I then tried a full system restore back to all factory settings and I got an error. Please help me!!

Thanks for the quick reply and how to format my portable hard drive through the command prompt. I get Error 0x400110020000100A.

Never had that problem before. But it seems others have had to use the format disk or some utility in order to delete the partitions and then proceed with a fresh install of windows.

The thing is that I never actually created any new partitions. All I wanted to do was format my portable hard drive, so after Partition Magic couldn't do it, I tried to uninstall it and everything went to hell.

Have you tried booting with the Windows installation DVD and using the repair option? It sounds like PMagic messed with your laptop harddrive partitions, boot sectors and MBR etc.
