How do I tell if mine is 130 W or 90 W? I have 2 adapters: the 1st came with my older 1640 and says 90 W on the front, while the newer one that came with my 1645 does not say anything related to W. The part # is WK890 and everything else is about Amps, Voltages, Made in China, etc.

    Amps X Volts = Watts

Multiply the amp rating by 110 to get the watts.

EDIT: as Romills pointed out, you have to multiply the OUTPUT voltage (not the 110V as I erroneously listed above).

If you look in the BIOS setup it will list the wattage of the adapter that's plugged in.

    Fred,
You need to look at the output rating, that is in DC, which can be multiplied straight up. The input is in AC which is 110V peak to peak, but is not a straight mulitply. The output should be 19.5V and then you multiply that by the rated amperage.

Yeah I was one of the first people to get the laptop, and complained about the 90 watt adapter the same day. :)

i notice you have ultimate installed there - guessing you did a clean wipe

any specific dell drivers you recommend installing?

    or NEED installing

i mean do the brightness keys and whatnot/backlit keyboard all work without dell drivers?

I'd install all the Dell drivers and also their QuickSet program. The keys will work fine but without QuickSet installed there is no indicator on-screen when you change brightness or volume, so it's handy to have installed.
