Hey guys, I'm new to these forums and also to my new XPS-16. I'm here to ask the wise gurus of these forums for some help.

Does Dell automatically install the newest drivers onto your laptop or do you have to do it yourself.

So how do I know when to update my drivers? And also after downloading the drivers, do I just save it to any kind of folder that I made?

you could use software to know when they need updating or you could just just visit Dell.com once a month.

The app' Dell Support Center will provide you with alerts which will include driver updates. That is if you have Dell Support Center installed. Dell doesn't update drivers that often however, mostly Bios upgrades.

the best thing for you to do (if you want to stay current with device drivers) is create a list similar to this one:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=3420527&postcount=1

Notice how pascalle has identified the relevant driver for each device? this is what you will need to do for your own list. After you have identified the best source (Dell, Hardware Manfacturer, etc.) then you will need to visit their driver site on a regular basis.

You can also use the Dell list as a reference to create your own list.

As for software apps, I would stay away from those third-party driver update websites or tools. Some of them can be very wrong and suggest an incorrect device.

Dell's is good but it sucks up some system resources (since its always running) and as previously mentioned, Dell does NOT update their drivers often enough.
