    Hey everyone.

So I removed my ODD, bought a HDD caddy and installed my HDD there. I also picked up a SSD for my primary.

Anyway, when I leave the computer sit idle over night and I try to access the HDD, there's a slight delay... approximately 1-2 seconds... before I can access my files. After that initial delay, I can access it instantly.

Is this normal? Or is there a setting I missed?

    Thanks.

It's normal. I also put a second HDD into my SXPS 16. When your Device is idle the second HDD is not in use so after some time it shuts itself down.
You can change the time until a HDD shuts itself down. But why keep it running idle? Just wasting energie an runtime of the device...

^ True but my laptop is always plugged in over night so I really don't mind draining the little bit of power it takes to keep it idling.

How do you change the time?

Energyoptions or BIOS. I don't know which one does it for the secondary sata port...

Also keep in mind that keeping the HDD idling 24/7 will increase wear/tear on the HDD and generate heat. compared to letting it shutdown over extended periods of inactivity

^ Thanks. Not very concerned with the HDD as they are cheap to replace but I will let it turn off per default.
