Ok so I got my Dell SXPS16 (1080p WLED screen) the other day and well I like it but there is something that I do not like, the screens color is WAY off. I have tried messing with the ATI catalyst thing and the control panel color adjustment thing and neither seems to fully fix the problem. I have checked other screens and my old M1530 for accuracy and the SXPS is off.

To give you and example of how the color is messed up the various links on notbookreview have a purple tint and are not the usual blue. The folders (a la my documents, sub folders etc), are quite green and faded as oppose to the normal tan color.

I reduced the gama in control panel but which makes the "purple link" appear a little bit more blue but the folders are still green.

    Suggestions? Thoughts? Solutions?

It looks you got a bad one. I have the same screen and the colors look fine. Black is black, white is white and the rest are what are supposed to be.

My blacks and whites are ok but its my colors that seem to be out of whack.

The RGBLED apparently has rather inaccurate colours but I haven't heard anything bad about the WLED. Sounds like either an unusual software configuration issue or you've got a faulty one.

Perhaps you could contact Dell for a replacement, because it sounds like this is not a software issue. Another alternative is to use a hardware calibration tool (such as the Spyder) and see what that does to improve the color accuracy.

    Good luck!

Yeah I think I will call Dell before I spend $300. Do they send a technician or do I have to send it back? I only ask because I have school in a couple of weeks. If I do have to send it back, I am going to demand some form of compensation for this BS. I mean this laptop is great but a faulty screen in unacceptable.

I had a D820 with a faulty screen. The mechanic came on site and replaced it there. I'm not sure if it's that simple for the SXPS too.

You are repeating what you have "heard" or read here from a few users, after proper calibration most have found it stunning. I certainly have as have many others.

If you have an on-site service warranty (which I believe all SXPS models do), then they will send a technician to repair it for you. That doesn't mean you can't demand compensation if you are dissatisfied with the laptop though.

What are they going to do to compensate you? Give you a free apple pie?

Seriously, production defects happen. This is just a malfunctioning screen it sounds like. Get a techie to fix it, they should be able to do it on site.

Well, thats what I am trying to get Dell to do but the fools at the India call center are mindless drones. I was like "Maybe this is not clear to you, the windows folder should not be green. A picture of snow should not be blue. I have the latest drivers, I have messed with the pre installed color correction software, none of it solves the problem, my screen's color is off." To which he says, "but sir since it is an LED display the image could look different." To which I replied, "Then explain to me why this picture of snow is white on every singe screen I own (covering multiple types) but is blue on this computer". Since I am on W7 RC and this guy is not trained for W7 he said I have to use Dell on Call (pay money), to which I reply, "Sorry, but I bought Vista with a W7 upgrade, which then entitles me to free W7 support. If you cannot help me put me on the phone with someone who can. And if you can't do that well I want my $1300 back." He said he would call back. I swear if I get India again I am going to demand to be transferred to another region.

You need to get to the escalation team. Those other guys probably won't do crap for you and will gladly give you a refund so that they don't have to deal with you anymore. The escalation team can give you a whole system replacement. Good luck. :)

Escalation team. Well if I hit a brick wall I will demand to speak to a supervisor.

I made a new thread detail and maybe possibly solving my problem.
