Hi, I have never overclocked before but I found the guide and the steps seem pretty easy. I just have a few questions concerning how the Nvidia problem affects overclocking.

For starters, after almost an hour of playing Combat Arms (similar to counter-strike) my temp hits 76, and it runs 55 when it's idle. Is this too hot to risk an overclock or would it be OK if I bought a notebook cooler? If this seems cool now is there any chance it could suddenly start running hot?

Also, if I overclock responsibly but my GPU fries because it's defective would Dell be able to tell I was overclocking? I don't think so but I don't want to take any chances.

And lastly, would undervolting my CPU help disperse heat from my GPU at all? I really have no idea where they are located and what-not.

Well, technically overclocking does void warranty, but it's hard for Dell to tell unless you send in your laptop filled with overclocking software and profiles ;). I would definitely recommend a cooler for gaming purposes, even without overclocking.

yur current temps look fine and the 8600m GT overclocks pretty well. i have seen people OC their core speeds to 600+. just follow the guides and do it slowly. as long as yur GPU isn't hitting temps higher than 90c, u'll be fine.

a laptop cooler would be ideal if u'r gonna OC. it'll help the notebook's overall lifespan and yur fans won't get stressed as much.

undervolting yur CPU would also help reduce the overall temp of yur notebook. good luck and read the guides carefully. :D
