    Well I think I got extended here longer and now I have the laptop being sent in july to my canadian address.

    It will cost approx 300 or so dollars to ship but I am wondering is it covered fully from theft, or damage ? I assume for that much it would be.

    What of treatment do shipping overseas packages get.

    I dont want to end up with it in pieces or stolen and I am sure that would be a ***** to deal with.

    let me know :)

    this all depends on who the carrier is. dhl? fedex? etc, etc. Usually you have to pay a certain amount for insurance and have to tell them if its fragile and such so that they can ship it without damaging it.

    that seems pretty expensive. why not buy a brand new one for a little more... about 400-500USD. not a good idea to pay that much for freight costs.

    plus the fact that you feel uneasy with the shipping process.

    in any case, i would agree with hinduemperior... depends really with the carrier. DHL will be ideal in my opinion

    Issues with buying it in Canada.

    1. It is quite possible you will have to pay taxes and duties for importing your laptop to the Philippines.

    2. Dell Laptop purchased in Canada cannot be exported to other countries except the US. By having it shipped you will be exporting it.

    3. If anything is wrong with it in the first 30 days it's going to cost you a fortune in shipping to exchange/return it.

    Issues with buying it in the Philippines.

    1. Make sure you confirm the warranty will be honored in Canada.

    2. Legally you have to pay taxes when bringing your laptop back to Canada. yes you can use your personal exemption to lower this but still there will be taxes on the balance.

    Your best option for shipping this overseas from Canada would be Fedex. Canada Post also offers this service but the insurance coverage might not go over $1000.

    Good luck
