was looking for a coupon code for XPS. Just noticed prices were different if you go thru a google shopping link to the dell site vs going straight to the Dell site

2nd degree price discrimination theory in economics would explain why that is so. Basically in order for a firm to capture as much revenue from a given market, prices are adjusted in a manner to maximize revenue. ie, people who visit the Dell site are already inclined to purchase one so Dell knows that and will charge x price. Whereas someone just randomly surfing a site who happens to come across an ad for the same product will be more likely to purchase same product at price y, given y < x.
