I got a scratch on the front of my Midnight Blue xps m1530 today while pulling it out of my bag. You can only see it if the lid is closed anyone have any suggestions on fixing this, maybe I should just complain to Dell of a grainy screen and get the whole top changed. Also I noticed a little bulge on the bottom bewel of the lid.

I got a minor scratch on my m1330 lid as well, so I bought a grey leather skin, which looks better than the tuxedo black it is covering.

It also took care of the fingerprint problem.

Hmm, and people wonder why companies don't always trust their customers about problems when they call in.

Also if you complain about a grainy screen they will replace ONLY the LCD panel, not the entire display assembly...

It's a scratch. It's normal wear and tear. What you do is deal with it. If you're super upset, get a skin, or repaint the lid yourself. Or buy a new lid off ebay.

    So true.

Call Dell part department and order the back panel for less than $50. I used to do that for my friend if you are willing to disassemble the laptop.

I don't really mind the scratch maybe I will order the back panel in a couple more months or now if they will stop producing them and replace it after a couple more months of wear and tear. And dougjr I did get a grainy screen but it doesn't bother me too much so please hold your dumb judgments to yourself next time.

I don't understand how my judgments were dumb. I'm guessing your screen was "grainy" before the incident with the scratch, but you only wanted to say something when you actually scratched the outside. So obvioulsy the "granyiness" of your screen wasn't that bad because you didn't post here or call them to get it replaced. You did post here about a scratch that you caused which makes the entire grainy screen seem illogical. ...In summarization... You have a bigger problem with a scratch that you caused (which is cosmetic), over a grainy screen (which you have to look at 95% of the time) that came shipped from factory. If i had gotten a bad screen. that I would complain about, I would not wait until I actually caused a cosmetic blemish on my notebook to actually call them about. However if I scratched my notebook due to carelessness I would not only complain about that problem but also throw in that there was another problem with the notebook so as not to look like a ....
