I just got my M1330 and so far its been working great. Except I have Just come across a problem. On the lowest display setting the screen flickers, does anyone else have this problem? I have been using the display in the lowest setting brightness to conserve battery, and it has never flickered or pulsed before??

    Thanks in advance!

I assume all that is working since the computer worked flawlessly at 2 am, but now it flickers, and it wont even go to maximum brightness?

If you have an LED display, it might just be normal. If I recall correctly, the display on the E6400 drops its refresh rate at the lowest display brightness in order to save power. This will make it look like it's flickering under certain lighting conditions. I've never heard of this happening with the M1330, and I'm not sure it even supports this feature, but you probably can't do much about it. Just use the second highest brightness level; the difference in power is small.

As for not going to maximum brightness; is your ambient light sensor active?

I don't know where the physical location of the ALS is on the M1330, but if you have the Dell QuickSet (or something equivalent) installed, it should be able to tell you whether or not it's activated. Otherwise, you can take a look in BIOS. You should be able to toggle the activity of the ALS with fn + right arrow.

Like I said, if the flickering only happens on the lowest brightness level, it's likely intentional.

It can seem random. I know it's definitely not consistent on my E6400, and I think most people have reported the same. I think it depends very much on lighting conditions, how focused your eyes are, how long you've been looking at it, etc.

    Hi,
I think the screen flickering is common and could be software related. I had the screen flickering issue and called to get my LED replaced. They came today and replaced it and its the same problem.

Also, in low brightness, do you see small vertical dark lines at the bottom of the screen. You can see them under low brightness, if you have like "My Computer" or any white screen open. My old LED and the new replacement LED both have those dark spots. They are very faint however.

I notice it very intermittantly on lowest setting. Happens for a few seconds, then goes away.

I had the same issues on my m1530 it was the power supply for the LED screen mine was random but would do it more when I just tuned on the laptop.. but yes it was the powersupply for the LED screen.

I have the WLED 1080p screen and on the right 2inches of the screen there is some flickering/ripple effect (it looks like waves are comming from the upper right conner). Screen brightness or running from the battery do not change anything. The whole thing is faint and most times I do not notice it, but it is there, especially when a window like IE is maximized. Any ideas?

I am thinking of calling Dell, but I have Win 7 RTM and I am afraid once they hear that, they will use it as an excuse to not do anything about it.

EDIT: I run the Dell Diags. from the CD and if I move the window to the right it is the same, so the OS should not be an issue. However, do you think is a video card or screen problem?
EDIT2: I chatted with Dell, he had me connect an external monitor (Duh, why I didn't think of that...) and since I do see any flicker/ripple on the ext. monitor, he is going to replace my screen
