    Hey,

I have a XPS M1530, And the screen doesn't go off when I close my laptop. I have contacted dell about it. They replaced the mobo, the LCD Screen, the Palm rest. And it still doesn't go off... I'm wonder what it can be...

    Any ideas?

    Yes, and yes.

I reinstalled vista 2 days ago, also xp... (Dual boot)
And I'm doing it again in a day or so. (New HDD 7200 RPM Yay!)
    Its not a settings issue.

Then it's not physically detecting that it's closed is my guess. Too bad I don't know how it detects on this specific model :\
    Sorry.

It's probably hardware related. There's a magnet switch in the lid and below the touchpad of the palmrest.

When I replaced my palmrest the ribbon wire was not fully connected to this switch and I had the same problem.
