I recently upgraded my M1330 to a seagate 320 GB 7200rpm HD. Noticably faster than my toshiba 320/5400 but the constant clicking at idle is driving me crazy. Ordered a WD 320/7200 to replace it-hope thats quieter.

Download Notebook Hardware Control (32-bit OS only), and in HDD, set the Acoustic Management and Advanced Power Management to 254.

I agree with you. Went through 3 xps with same constant "click" problem. That was really annoying. That's it. I returned all of them and bought DV5T. Unfortunately HP only provides 5400 RPM HD. Anyway in much more quieter. Just wonder if I could find 320 7200 rpm on the market for my dv5t.

    any suggestions?

That's odd. I've got the same 7200rpm/320gb Seagate hdd and it's completely silent...
