    Have a XPS 17 in transit from Dell Outlet. It has one 640GB HDD. Can I add a second 640 or even a 500 to the laptop? I did a search but didn't come up with the answer.

    I think you can add any capacity SATA II or III drive, mechanical or SSD, as long as it physically fits in the chassis. Dell includes the caddy in the empty drive bay.

    You can add a 2nd hdd easily. As long as its 2.5"
