Getting frustrated....installing the Creative drivers...no prob...then try to install Creative software from other systems which should be the same and it doesnt work. Does anyone know where the application package/software for the webcam can be found???

You can call Dell and ask them to send you the Dell Webcam Central disk. I've had to do this twice because I'm so poorly organized. :p

    Also, check your PMs.

Les are both webcam software the same M1330 XPS vs Studio XPS?
If not just try the one for M1330 but check that your FastAccess software has detected your wabcam by going back into the settings> advanced> camera selection> now select Laptop integrarted Webcam then OK.

The problem is that when you reformatted you lost a setting in the Fast Access software. There is a place to tell Fast Access to disable itself when Dell Webcam is started, otherwise Fast Access still has exclusive use of the camera and won't let Dell Webcam use it. There is a place in Fast Access to configure it and add the .exe for Dell Webcam.

Tried this with just the filename and full path no luck.

Can I ask you to go check yours (Go into Configure Fast Access and see Exceptions)and tell me exactly what it says???the exact path???

If I could do that I would. I sold mine and I'm waiting on my new 1640 with the 1 gig GPU to show up. You have to just put the name of the file plus the extension .exe after in the exception, not the full path. I'm not positive that's the problem but it sounds like the same issue I experienced.

Yes I have tried that. In fact, I even tried uninstalling the entire software and installing webcam software first but it still isnt recognizing the Creative integrated webcam.

Its frustrating as hell. I have followed all kinds of ideas and it is probably something really simple.

I wish someone else had this right now who could walk me through the configuration of theirs exactly in the configure menu...

Les you should be able to Right click on FA tray icon on the Taskbar and Disable FA from using the webcam. Then you should be able to use the webcam for another services, when you finished using webcam you should be able to enable FA to use the webcam services once again by right click on FA in the Taskbar > enable FA.
I think this is what your trying to do.

Make sure you click the enable box. If you've done it sorry, but I know I forgot to check it before. Also, like Black Russian said, shut it down and see if that works.

    Is Fast Access working?

Les I can confirm on my M1330 that at any point of me disabling FA in my taskbar by right clicking on it’s icon then selecting Disable Fast Access temporarily, I am able to run and use lets say Dell webcam software or use my webcam for Skype for example. When I need FA to monitor my system I just enable it once again via FA icon in my taskbar and the webcam is at FA mercy.

Yes this is the problem I have. Even when I uninstall FA, I cannot get Webcam to recognize the webcam at all.

I tried everything and appreciate the help.

I have the same problem. The cam works in online apps and stuff, but not in the Dell Webcam program.

At least we are both stuck together :/

This is weird, I had Zero issues getting it to work upon reformatting with Vista and W7. I would delete the camera, uninstall all of the software and start from scratch. Unfortunately sometimes it's tough to find what program is taking it over and if it grabs it, it's not able to be used by another program.
