If I'm happy with my performance on the 550m, on mostly high/very high, does anyone have any good reason to push for the 555m? From what I understand it'd only be a 5-10fps boost, if that. I'm sure it'd help just that little bit more for 3D-capable media/games performance. I plan on using the 3D feature a lot on both my TV and the laptop.
And can anyone confirm that anything can be upscaled to 3D (DVD's, Downloaded Movies, Non-3D Blu-rays) in PowerDVD 9.6? PowerDVD 11? Especially downloaded movies. If not, is there a program that will?
Thanks,
Travis

I think it all depends on your attitude towards games.
If you look at my Sig you can see that I had the 550 but now I have the 555. The reason for that is that while I was playing games like Crysis 2 and COD Black Ops I had to drop my resolution or details to get good fps and I didnt like thinking about the fact that if I had the 555 it would be better- even if it was only a 5-10fps improvement.
Plus you kinda want your laptop to be able to play games in the future as system hardware gets more demanding.
Add to the fact that you could use the $500 coupons if you configured more than $1600 and it was a no brainer for me. -
The thing is, I have to push for the upgrade. The XPS 17 is a warranty replacement for a Studio XPS that I had issues with. Long story short, they sent me a XPS17 with a 550m and a 900p screen. Hated the screen. So they're sending me a 3D model, and I'm pushing for the 555m as well. Thanks for the reply
Also, anyone know about playing downloaded movies in 3D? -
Well as I mentioned in your other thread, even the 55m is a bit underpowered for real 3D gaming. So push hard, the 3D on the 550m is basically only good for videos and REAL light gaming. Nothing really new at reasonable settings.

Is it possible to push for the 555m? I got my XPS 17 as a replacement of the Studios XPS 16 as well. They gave me a 550m and I wanted the 555m so bad!
Seriously. 550m vs 555m and separate 3D question.
