I need a laptop before June 29th and I'm thinking of the XPS M1530.

Should I just get it now or should I wait a bit? Will there be any upgrades in the near future worth waiting for? The Core 2 Duo T9600 maybe?

I'm ordering from Dell Sweden and they don't have an option for LED-screen. Are the CCFL-screens any good?

Why not order it now?? Instead of waiting, and not getting it when you want it ;) :)

    Technology is ever-changing anyways :)

I have found that procrastinating is not a good thing  ;)

And, the 1530 is a very nice notebook (IMO) ;)

I once made a thread about taking the plunge for a XPS...
I believe the day is NOW, else if you have something to wait for...
Just bite the bullet, take the plunge, eat the enchilada...

WHen you open it up, you'll realize that there's a new thing just around the corner... yes, exactly, just when you bought it...

    thats technology :D
so, sell later, and buy the newest one... thats how it works... :)
i bought mine then penryn wasnt even near
i bough it and guess what, no penryn for me, 2 weeks later: penryn.
do i care? not really, I have my lappy, and I'm happy :D

I'll sell it somewhere later... then get the newest crud :D

    Cheers!

Like Cin' said technology is always changing, unless your Michael Dell, or your a billionaire!!!, you will never have your hands on the absolute latest technology, i wouldnt think that with the XPS line there would be much worth waiting for.

and if you see a configuration in a dell computer that you really like, you should probably jump on it IMO, because i have noticed, dell likes to change their options on the comps fairly regularly, such as hard drive configs and other minor stuff, processors and screens are pretty in line.

Of course tech is always changing, however it won't happen everyday, so if there is a new tech within say 2 weeks, and then there will not be any new tech within few months, of course its better to wait a bit, unless you really need it right now.

Anyway that's why people keep asking this kind of questions.

I want to get a M1530 as well, but they only have 320GB hard disk from the Dell in my country, I am currently only using 20-50GB of my hard disk so I want to save money from hard disk part....plus I really don't want to use vista, I want security and performance and compatibility etc for an OS, not those stupid AERO experience for wasting my system resource etc.

If you wait until the beginning of June, you will be able to preorder a new Montevina laptop ;) However, expect to wait a month to actually get it.

Wait till June.... Prices will come down on the cpu's
Then in June... you'll want to wait until September as the prices will come down on the HD & faster CPU's coming out.
Then in September, you'll want to wait until December as the prices drop on notebooks around then.
Then in December, you'll want to wait until Feburary as the new XPS z1535 models will be coming out.
Then in Feburary.... you get the idea! BUY NOW! :D

Thank you for all the answers!

I know that playing the waiting game will keep one from buying something forever, but I thought that if something new is coming in a few days/weeks I might just as well wait. But not longer than that. :)

I will buy one next week!

as of right now there is a 25% off coupon code for systems over $1499(8Z6RJW85KQF60Z) and I was personally able to configure a beast of a system that comes to about $1250 SHIPPED(free shipping right now as well lol).

For me personally I almost cant NOT jump on it right now but I cant speak for you. If you like the 1530 now really does seem like the time...

Finally, when I ordered the 1530, I was happy ~ and happiest when I finally received it. ;) :)
