Should I keep the Dell M170 or sell for something better?

Im gonna be inheriting an old dell xps m170 and dont know what to do with it.

I already have a desktop and msi wind but like the larger laptop for work in bed. Should I try to sell the M170 on ebay in hope of getting something newer, or should I just keep it and use it until its useless?

If I go the ebay route, i run the risk of bad timing, low bidding and the crappy christmas buying season. I expect between 250-400 dollars after fees and shipping, maybe less. This might not buy me something better.

If I keep it, I can turn it into a test box , etc.. and just play around with it when I have time.

What would you do in my situation?

I would say it depends on how much use a test box is for you. Would you use it often or would it just sit? I you think it is just going to be idle often you might as well clear it out.
