    Should I take this exchange?

I had problems with an Adamo XPS (original cost around $1900) , and since parts are no longer available I was offered an XPS15z as an exchange. The relevant config options are:

PROCESSOR 2nd generation Intel Core™ i7-2620M processor 2.70 GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 3.40 GHz

VIDEO CARD NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 525M 2GB graphics with Optimus

MEMORY 8GB Shared Dual Channel DDR3 1333MHz Memory

INTERNAL OPTICAL DRIVE 8X Slot Load CD/DVD Burner (Dual Layer DVD+/-R Drive)

    WIRELESS + BLUETOOTH Intel© Centrino© Advanced-N 6230 & Bluetooth 3.0

HD DISPLAY Elemental Silver Aluminum 15.6" 300-nit HD (720P) WLED Display

HARD DRIVE 256GB Solid State Drive

The only thing that looks off to me is the screen. My goal is to maximize the resale value of the XPS 15z to sell it. I got the solid state drive upgrade, which should be a big boost, but the rep is telling me that currently none of his exchange machines have 1080p screens. We agreed to wait a few days to see if another configuration would come in.

What do you think this machine would sell for on Ebay? How much am I losing by not having the full HD screen. It seems that all but the basic model of XPS15z have it.

You are losing quite alot by not getting the FHD screen. I would wait for it to be back in "stock" before pulling the trigger.

    Insist on the 1080 screen.

The 1080p screen is the most important part, if you're not getting the 1080p screen then refuse the exchange.

Having an i7-2620M but having a 15.6" 1366x768 screen is a waste and is a horribly imbalanced spec combination.

Plus, I wouldn't recommend the XPS 15z anyway, it's known for build quality issues. I'd suggest trying to get a refund (if possible) and using the money on either a Sony Vaio SE or a Samsung Series 7. Or something even more comparable to the Adamo XPS.

Unfortunately dell doesn't make anything thin and light nowadays. I'd trade it for an udpated Adamo 13 in a heartbeat.

Only thing close is Latitude 13/Vostro V13/V130/V131 which is Dell's business line. Maybe E4200. Hinge design is near identical which why I coined the L13/V13/V130/V131 as the poor man's Adamo.

Unfortunately refund or store credit was a no-go. I would have loved to get even credit so I can wait for the ultra book. But that's not an option.

I don't plan to use it at all, just want to maximize the resale value and ebay it. I want something thin and portable.
