    Hi you all,
I've just bought a DELL XPS M1530 and I'm so worried about the error of Geforce 8600GT Video Card that DELL and nVIDIA has reported!
So would you mind giving me a suggest of updating new driver for my video card? If in case I should update my graphic card, please share me the lastest driver for my Geforce 8600GT.
please view my system information below and give me suggestion

Why do you want to update drivers???

And do you know *what* the issue is actually? and do you know that *the issue cannot be fixed with driver updates*????

from your screenshots, those temperatures are perfectly fine and normal..

And I see that you don't seem to have any issue with this driver as of now (and only worried because of the nVidia faulty card news!!!)

all that I would suggest is the following:

    - You (or we or anyone) don't know when the cards would fail.
    - Use yours system as long as its fine, because Dell has an extended warranty limited to the GPU issue and they will replace it if the card fails.
    - Driver's do not solve this issue
    - Update your driver if you are seeing any issue with any games or such.
    - The 174.31 is itself a pretty good driver and quiet popular too.
    - THOUGH, you could update to the latest driver from Dell (v175.97, available in the M1530 drivers n downloads page) and its good as well.
    - Or you could take drivers from laptopvideo2go with the modded .inf though I would suggest its better to stick with OEM drivers as long as you don't have any specific issue.

And for more information on the graphic card issue, see here

    http://direct2dell.com/one2one/arch...ate-limited-warranty-enhancement-details.aspx

If your card is faulty, you will see issues / symptoms as listed there, for example... :) So don't worry as long as everything is fine.

yea i got mine a few weeks ago and its still on whatever drivers it had a up to a few weeks ago when i got it and its ran fine for me even when playing games for a few hours. I spent like 6 hours straight playing spore one night and the fan occassionally came on but the laptop never really heated up and there were no video issues.

I just wondering if my 8600gt is ok when its temperature keeps fluctuating in idle mode, like rising from 56 to 61 for a few minutes, then climbing up to 69, remaining unchanged for 5 minutes or so, then slowly dropping down to 60, and so on.

Is it normal at all? All this happens when I am mailing, surfing the net, absolutely no gaming at all. Thanks a lot.

Absolutely normal behaviour, the graphics card is working to display the image on screen.

Try the new 178.24 drivers that just came out a few days ago off laptopvideo2go.com. I find these to be the best performing and lowest temp drivers to come along in a few months.

Thanks for your advice. I think I will give it a trial with this driver, simply in hope the temp wont keep dancing up and down any more.

Thanks for all the comments! Love this forum...
