I have a studio xps 16 1080p RGB screen Core 2 T9550 2.66 ati 4670, I love this lappy have it undervolted ssd upgrade and 8 gb of ram since it's so cheap.

If I get an i7 is it worth, I work on this computer all day am a designer so CS5 suite all day. Also was throttling fixed.

And I refuse to get the new fugly xps 17, I'll stick with the sxps 16 till dell gets it's head out of its .

Yea CPU throttling was fixed, but some people have issues with GPU throttling due to temps. I'd say stick with what you have, if you don't like the new XPS series. You have the RGB screen, which will be hard to find in a SXPS 1645, and all of your other specs are pretty good. The only things you would be gaining are the processor and the video card. I think it would be worth waiting for a new model...
