anyways how are the xps? and how long will my batter last about? also hows the graphics card? is it good enough to play some decent games like some fps games and some games with the same requirements on par with wow?
also will my graphics card overheat? and cause problems?
i had a horrible time with my studio but i guess im giving dell another shot...

WOW 609 bucks thats a steal.
The nvidia 8400gs is a decent car, you can play cod4 good setti and ngs, cs source...the battery lasts about 2-3 hours depending on settings.
My mom has my xps m1530 and she leaves it on most of the time, even at night so there isn't any over heating issue. Just go under start, device manager, network adapter, and click advanced and turn off put on sleep mode while inactive. that usually prevents a highly warm laptop thats been on sleep mode. other that that, give yourself a tap on the shoulder, you got an awesome price. -
k thx alot i know 609 is so cheap, i saw a little expensiver one earlier with a worse specs and i missed out on it and i was like dam...then this pops up like 10 minutes later =-)

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
I don't think you should be worried about overheating. Ya, I've heard that some of the M1530s with 8600M GTs run kinda hot, but the cooling should be more than sufficient for the 8400M GS. Even better if you have the X3100 XD
-
k thx i was worried about it over heating... and im worried about my speakers ahhh and do u know how long theyre extending the warranty with the 8xxx series nvidia chips? so do i get another year? or is that just for the mobo and gpu?
-
Don't worry so about the Graphics Card...I have the 8600 GPU on mine (the *troublesome* one), and have no problems - whatsoever.
Just enjoy it when your receive it, and if you encounter any prob's (which I'm sure you won't), deal with it then!
The 6 cell battery on my 1530 lasts about 3.5 hours.
Hope that helps! and Grat's on your purchase...

Well I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I have a M1530 with the 8400 video card and mine overheats even higher than the reports I have seen on the 8600 cards! my CPU alone idles around 72-75, will go up to 80 with internet browsing and I have seen mine up to 90, I havent really tested the video card much as I dont game, but with just testing the CPU the GPU will go well over 90.
-
i have the same specs. havent had problems with my gpu and ive had it for a year.
dont worry just keep a positive mind about it -
hmmm alrite thx everyone for the help except david which got me worried...lol ill prolly undervolt the cpu and ill see about the gpu... if not i guess i can get a cooling fan or wait till black friday and get one for like 10 dolalrs...
-
I actually just downloaded 3Dmark 06 just for the heck of it to test GPU temps and here are the results:
Oh yeah and the reason my temps actually got down to 56 C is because I turned the heat off in my place just to see how low I could get them at idle, its 53 F in my room now, time to turn the heat back on!Attached Files:

alrite if they do get that hot hopefully i get mine replaced to since it came with inhome service. and did anyone undervolt their cpu? since i had a centrino 2 last time i did get some extra batterylife hopefully i can get alot more out of this.
and cin for the 3.5 hours is urs the 9 cell or 6 cell? im getting confused lol -
Now, don't get confused on us!
Cin -
lol alrite... thats pretty good batter life and did dell fix the nvidia issue or is that still a big problem?
should i be worried about my xps 1530?
