I am in the final stages of selling my laptop, so im thinking about getting the 1530, but i am having 2nd thoughts, as to weather it would be better, if i do not get 1, and instead wait until the new 1 comes out, and buy that.

1.Would the price of the new dell be the same price as the 1530 now?

2.Would it be a lot better, (like 10x better)?

3.Is it worth the wait? or should i get a 1530, and then sell it?

If any of you have a coupon, that would be amazing, and i promise to give you any coupon they give me .. !!!

What is this new Dell you speak of?

Is it the new Latitudes? If so, those are targeted toward a different type of user compared to the M1530. Plus I hear they are for June, which would leave you with not laptop for a while.

    1. Probably more expensive
    2. No, like 1.5 times, maybe 1.25.
    3. Your choice, but remember, new things always come out, so getting new tech means you will never ever stay ahead.

    4. MY COUPON!!!! :p

Why not just get it now, if you want it now? ;) :D There is always going to be something new coming out! :D

I looked for a new lappy for almost 6 months and procrastinated, and lost out on the Dell deals that came out because of this. But Dell always has some kind of deal going on, you just can't predict what it is going to be. ;)

Finally, in January I ended up purchasing my XPS 1530 and have been very happy with it!

That's just my opinion though ;) In the end, you need to make up your own mind, what you want to do! I say go for it! :D

I am waiting until this summer to consider buying, but I am always looking for new updates. You aren't going to see a 10x jump in performance at anytime, maybe 20% at the most. I am looking to get an SSD, but I am not sure they will be cheap enough for me by this summer, perhaps a future laptop will though.

Buy a laptop when you need/want it. If you constantly play the waiting game, you'll never buy one because there is always something bigger and better coming out.

As I understand it, these are pretty serious business notebooks. If I'm reading the roadmap right, they're gonna be replacing the D430, D630 and D830.

Business Montevina offerings? They are unlikely to have heavy graphics power, I don't think.

Browse around the current crop of Latitudes. That might give you a very (VERY) rough idea of what to expect.

Honestly, unless there's a particular reason you want a business notebook, you're probably better off sticking with the consumer line. If m1530 is too much firepower for you, choose and Inspiron or even a Vostro.

There's no harm in taking your time when choosing a machine -- it's a pretty serious investment -- but if you're only holding back cause you're waiting for the E Series to drop, just go ahead and buy. :)

there are no reasons, i just thought it would be a lot better, and would have similar price to the XPS 1530.

Since they are different series ( i thought the E series was going to replace the M series), it would not even effect the price of the XPS M1530.

m1530, is not too much, lol ( i am selling my Alienware M15X, that was kind of unneeded firepower). so i think the XPS 1530, would be great .. (hopefully it wouldn't have any probs ...

    Thx for your help...

Or for even less firepower, a Sony. Hey, I'm just saying... ;)

The 1530 is a damn fine notebook.

From what I've seen, the E series looks sharp. Don't forget though, they may come out in June (or later) and will be pretty pricey at it's debut.

    I would consider:

    1. Do you need an 8600m GT? I doubt the E series will have a powerful graphics card equivalent until next year.
    2. Is money no object? If not, buy the 1530, sell it, then buy the E series when it comes out.

lol, i had a sony before.

even though they are over priced, there build is by far the best. when you touch a Sony laptop, it feels like your touching.. hmmmm ....i don't know lol ... something precious. If you touch an Alienware laptop, it feels like a toy, lol just like the Mac Air.

i would guess dell would be in between...

    :D

1.WTF? 8600m GT is great, but no lappy released in 2008 should have less than that.!!
2.Lolz, i thought about that. i might do it, if (using cupons + selling the 1530 for a good price) i get a loss of 100-150$, but only if it's worth the upgrade.

    thx dude ...

I think the 8600m GT is still the best graphics card for a 15.4". Yeah, there are faster cards, but they all have a lot of heat right now. 8600 is a nice balance and seems to work well in the 15" size.

Based on the current Latitudes the new Latitudes will probably have the Nvidia Quadro cards if they have high end cards. Those are geared toward CAD and other business type applications. They probably won't put in a consumer/gamer card.

The XPS M1530 is a nice machine. Just make sure to get all the discounts possible. Without discounts it's just as overpriced as a Macbook pro.

I bet if you waited until June for the new Latitutes to come out, a month or so later Dell would announce new XPS laptops for December or something.

The E Series of Latitudes is to replace the D Series.....which has NOTHING to do with the M/XPS Series.

I am sure the new XPS's will be leaked in the next few weeks featuring Centrino 2 T and P series processors, up to 8GB ram, huge hard drives/SSD's, Nvidia 9 series processors, LED screens, Robson 2, Bluetooth 2.1 and more! It will be worth the wait ;).

If you don't need a laptop now, wait as long as possible. The E-Series looks to be awesome but might not be available until later in the summer.
