I recently purchased a xps m1530 with the LCD(1440x900). I was wondering if i should cancel the order and replace the screen with the LED.

i really dont want to waste time reordering and prolonging the shipping date because i already canceled the order a few days ago to upgrade my video card.

Is the screen quality a huge difference between the regular LCD and the LED. I was told by the sales rep that i would not be able to tell the difference but i read otherwise on this forum.

I dont really want to wait any longer but if it is a significant difference i might just do it.

    thanks

I have had both and I have to say that quality wise the regular LCD is great, the LED is brighter, but I wouldnt get it unless you have extra cash

i have no idea why he told you there won't be a difference...it's like night and day. well, maybe afternoon and day =) but it's very noticeable. I have the LED and my cousin has the other and we both prefer mine over his any day.

Could you tell me how much brighter? I am trying to justify about LED because I am thinking about new Studio XPS line that is comming. :)

    Hey there,
So your order is still in the production/build stage???

If so, and your going to cancel and reorder...I say *go for it* ;) :)

Your order will start anew, and you will have what you want being built with the LED LCD... ;) Since your reordering, your ESD will change of course, and it will take a bit longer to get to you!!

    I don't have a LED on my 1530 (ordered back in 1/08)...my next lappy..will surely have that! ;) :)

    Good luck!

    Cin ;) :)

thanks...thing is i want to keep the laptop under 1500 so the only way i can do it is to drop my t9300 and get the T8300. Is it worth downgrading the processor to get the LED?? thanks

I definitely think so. The LED screen goes a lot easier on the battery life. Even when it's running on full brightness w/o the AC adapter, it has very minimal effect on energy consumption.

I actually had to make that same decision about a couple months back when I purchased my m1530 and I would have to say it was the better decision :) . Besides, unless you're a hardcore gamer/multi-tasker, the T9300 would be kind of a waste. The T8300 runs well with multi-tasking and gaming anyways.

Get the LED for the same price. Call Dell and tell them many people you know got the LED for the same price and you just discovered that yours wasn't coming with the LED. Tell them you are about to cancel your order and buy a Sony unless they give you the LED you think you deserve to have at the same price.

Why would they give the LED at the same price? You can't just lie to them.

Does anyone know where I could buy this LED screen? My m1530 has the glossy 1280x800.

Don't need to lie. Need to know exactly what others got, what components they got and what price they got. Don't be afraid to negotiate. Dell sales are ready to negotiate if you are.
