I've heard bad things about Sleep mode on the m1530, i.e. causing fan overdrive or BSOD when it is woken up. since I am going to college, I will probably be relying on Sleep mode exceSsively. Does it?

I dont know anything about BSOD or fan overdrive yet with my xps which i just got, but i do know that when i first got it I had some problem with coming out of sleep, i think something might be a little wrong with my xps because i have been having some strange problem, so it could just be vista that is causing this for me. I think i will be exchanging it for another xps

My guess is that it's not isolated to a single XPS, so I'm asking for more reassurance if Sleep Mode = Evil. (and/or Hibernate = Evil)

The XPS sleeps and hibernates fine.
I've only had one or two problems with sleep or hibernate and they've always been caused by a rouge piece of software recently installed (i.e. something that doesn't like sleeping much).
I run my notebook for a month between restarts sometimes and I just put it to sleep when not using it (I don't use hibernate anymore cos with 4GB of Ram it takes far too long to hibernate/resume.
Do be aware though that for some reason, the 1530 won't sleep for as long as say a Macbook Pro. My machine won't sleep an entire weekend whereas my GF's Macbook pro still has enough charge left to use it for 30mins or so.
