So I have an xps 1640 and I just reformatted it. After this I noticed whenever I close my laptop, the battery drains really fast when it is asleep. Has anyone had this problem, and is there any solution to this?
-Thanks

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
How fast is "really fast"? Are you sure that the laptop is properly standing by when you close the lid?

Well before I reformatted it, if it was lets say at half battery life, I could close it and it would probably more than a day. I was just surprised when it died on me a couple times when it was asleep and yes I'm sure it was fully in sleep mode when I closed the lid.

It's probably just a coincidence. But remember that "sleep" uses power. If you want to be able to have fast boot up without using power use hibernation.

This is discussed in the sony forum, as it seems to effect their machines considerably. But this is a result of the computer drawing power for the ram and usb ports. Sleep is really only intended for short periods of time. For long periods of inactivity, thats what hibernation is for. Or if you don't like that, power off.
