    SLOW BIOS BOOT!

Hi Guys, i currently have the a12 bios and when i turn on my 1530, it takes at least 30-40 seconds for the bar to load up. It stops 80% of the way and then freezes then the dvd drive makes a noise and loads up. Like i dont know why it is slow to startup. What factors are causing this? Computer works fine. its just the Startup dell bios screen that takes forever. I tried to go back with the A08 and A09 but all it did was make slower. Normally it should just zip right through. HELP ME PLEASE. thanks

Remember that the first boot after a BIOS update will always be slow.
The following boots should be fine.
How many time did you reboot after flashing your BIOS?

Whenever you update bios, or any hardware change, it takes the time to detect the newly 'installed/changed' hardware.

with every bios update, it WILL take the time to redetect the hardware, regardless if there's a new piece of hardware, etc.

Do you guys have this issue too? I think its too slow. I see some people's 1530 boot really fast. Is there anything i can do to make it quicker? Ever since i got the A12 bios, every single startup has been slow! Usually it should be the first boot that should be slow, but everystart up i do is slow.

whenever i install new softs or install new hardware..
it takes my bios a little longer to boot than the usual speed..
but when you boot it again it would return to the normal speed you have...
    and try defragmenting your pc..

Its not an issue, its just the standard procedure the computer undergoes whenever the BIOS is updated, or whenever a part has been replaced/added.

Go into BIOS setup. There is an option for boot speed or system checking. Make sure yours isn't set to full all of the time.

I have the same issue, and I found what the trouble is:

In the BIOS go to the ONBOARD DEVICES section,
then disable the MODULE BAY DEVICE (which is the Optical drive)

    save the changes and restart

Now You may notice that the boot time is really fast, but unfortunately, you DVD drive won't work (obviously, because you disabled it)

This issue is because the BIOS is waiting for the optical drive power on, so the OS may detect it. If you disable it (or physically remove it) this won't occur anymore.

This is really annoying, isn't it? :s

I'm still waiting for a new firmware or BIOS update, but... maybe I'd die first :(

I'm going to contact DELL Support and tell them, but I think I'll do it in Jan 2010, beacuse of the holidays.

I'll tell you the news by then ;)

Merry Xmas and Freaking Happy New Year!
