I have a dell M1530, bought it nearly two years ago but I still have the NVIDIA extended gpu warranty.
I get all the usual M1530 stuff, white lines running across the screen, gpu idling at 70 degrees, sudden shutdowns etc...
I had the motherboard exchanged once, but after a month the problems started to come back.
So I phoned them to talk about my problems and the only thing I heard is that ONLY if I buy extened warranty I will get a replacement motherboard.
When I told him that I had my motherboard replaced once and the problems came back really quickly, he said that it is a new motherboard and everything will be ok.
I said that the motherboard will be the same as the last time and that the problems will appear again. He asked what should he do in this situation. I explained that I had problems with my M1530, had replaced motherboard and overheating problems all the way through and would expect something more like replacement of the system. He said that there is not a chance.
Was he right? Should I just drop it?

Hello, It seems like you were in the exact position i was in a few weeks ago.
From what I understand, you still have the extended warranty meaning you can ONLY get your motherboard replaced and hope for the best.
However, the problems WILL come back, and the only way you can get a new replacement laptop is if you are still on Dell's complete system warranty, and have had your mobo replaced a few times (about 3 said my rep).
After those two requirements are met, THEN you can complain for a new system replacement.
So the options available to you are:
1. buy dell warranty for a year, overheat it 3 times and ask for new laptop
2. Get the mobo replaced right now, perform the copper mod if its available to you, use it till its death, then buy a new laptop.
Since i already purchased a new laptop from bestbuy, i'm planning on forcefully overheating the gfx card and pursuing option #2. -
I believe in the thread you created before on this, I included a link for Unresolved Issues for the UK?
Here it is again.
Dell UK Unresolved Issues.
I would complete that form, (if you wanted) ASAP..and take it from there when the Resolutions Specialists Contacts you. Keep everything documented.
