Ok been looking into weather or not to move up from my XPS L502x with the 525M 1Gb to something with more oomph.. and looking at the 540m and basically the only difference is frequency speeds and I am currently gaming with my 525 overclocked to 750 core.. It is doing pretty good so I think i'll stay where I am for now.. and keep the massive desktop for real hard core gaming..

Have you checked notebookcheck.net? They have a lot of info on pretty much every mobile card out there, along with a list of benchmarks and common games and their FPS.

yea that was exactly the board I looked at and they have the same piplines and a difference of only 72Mhz but I am overclocked on my 525 to about 750 right now and it is doing fine..so I am going to stick with what I've got i think its ok for now..

Not a huge enough difference between them to warrant upgrading if you have the one already. Especially since the GPU can't be replaced, you'd be looking at a whole new system.

Replacing 525 with 540 is definitely not worth it. 555, maybe... but even then I dunno. The GPU is soldered to the motherboard.
