Hi People, i had a XPS M1530 since Jan,2008(When first release). couple of weeks ago when there was an issue with my media buttons dell decided to change the whole system as they were not been able to fix it.
actually the light(Blue surroundings lights when once touched the media buttons) was not as brighter as they were suppose to b. when i first bought the system these lights were really brighter. but a month ago when the buttons were not working properly dell replace the whole Media Hinges Cover. i found the lights really deemed. then they again changes the hinge cover. but still the same. third times they changed the mother board, but nothing fixes the problem, i mean every times it's deemed media buttons. so they changed my whole system.
the new XPS M1530(replacement) i have received a couple of weeks. but u know guys, i was surprised to see that these media buttons r also deemed. and it was assembled in Poland where the old one was in Ireland. also i have found another changes that is, the screen light is much more brighter. something like Blueish. i don't know if it is good or bad. one of my house mate has got his old xps m1530. so i did compare just putting his one right next to my system.
they also changed hdd. my previous one was Fujitsu and this one they have put Hitachi. this hdd make little noise than previous one.
i could complain to dell and keep replacing the parts but i didn't, u know guys why, bcz this new system came along with Processor 2.5Ghz where my previous one was 2.2Ghz.
anyway guys, if any1 can tell me about these changes of XPS M1530. specially the media buttons lights.

Seriously? You are concerned about the brightness (or lack of) of the media lights?
Sounds like your replacement laptop is fine, imo. -

Wow.. You got a bumped up system merely because the lights that merely flash for a second at start up weren't bright enough? Seriously?
Dell really have their priorities messed up, and if I were you I'd be very impressed with myself for getting one over on them -
I am happy enough in fact as i got it replaced after being used it 11months, even with higher processor. the only thing which is noticeable is the glow lights of the media buttons. and i think they have put back screen LED lights which is upgradation, and that's why my screen is bit bluish. is there any1 who noticed these changes?

Tell you what...send me your laptop and I'll let you know. -
no computer manufacturer uses one HD so on the harddrive front, you're safe

Wow...you got lucky with a nice, new replacement...Im sure if I had something happen with my 1530 (mine is nearly a year old, also) ~ the replacement would not be brand new, per se!

i got a new system..when they kept sending me the wrong LCD screen. I had the LG originally. It cracked, and they started sending the Samsung..
So they decided to send me a LED back-lit for the hassle. They sent a wrong one again..
So finally, they decided to send me a whole new computer, 9 months later from my original purchase date.
Reason being, with the new computer, they can build it from the original specs (LG Screen), and bypass the parts dept that kept screwing up...
Happy camper i tell ya!! -
Nice!!!!

I'm gonna right up something in January, when my 1530 is officially *1 year old*, and talk about how things have been since 1/08 to 1/09 going forward!
I think it would be cool, if all the first 1530 generation owners did this!
What do you think??
Cin -
i think that would be a marvelous idea. I can't wait!

I will start a thread here in the awesome XPS forum, of course in early January!
(Sorry to take from the originating posters thread, abit)
It's all good though...it's about the 1530's
