I got my new laptop today, and got rid of the installed Dell Crap and installed my Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

Now under my Device Manager I've got two issues:

    Base System
    Base System

I contacted Dell, they said they won't support my laptop since I don't have their operating system on it. All I want to know is what drivers I need. I can't believe they couldn't let me know.

Install the chipset and the card reader driver.

It's saying it's the card reader, but I install the drivers, and it just doesn't resolve the issue. I've deleted the errors to do a clean install etc, but it doesn't seem to do anything. I guess it's not that big of a deal...I don't know.

Did all of those....same thing....guess I'll be contacting support via the web support this time....I get better results with the web chat than the phone chat....and I don't have to talk to "Mark"

I think urv tried the ricoh card reader R5U230 driver for the xps 1645.. if not try that. But what worked for me was the Ricoh card reader R5C833 driver from the xps 1640 driver download page

Actually I didn't, I did the R5C833, it's the one windows kept pointing me to. I figured that was the one I needed...so I'll try the other one.
