    Hey,

    A newbie to the forums has arrived :).

    I have a question for you all who are able to help me.

    I am going to be purchasing a laptop for Uni. I'm very much wanting a gaming laptop that is powerful and able to play the latest games at decent settings.

    I am considering the Dell Studio XPS 16 with the following spec;

    [IMG]

    Priced around 1600£.

    However, i've been reading up on the new Intel i7 cores and they will be soon replacing the Core2Duos?

    I am wondering with those specs above, would i be able to get a similar laptop with the new i7 core at a similar price? or do you think they will be overpriced for a good few months?

    Hopefully it's all made sense!

    I would recomend either going down to 4GB of ram or going up to 8 GB to keep both sticks the same size.

    get the better wifi card as well (5300)
    if you can wait, then wait. if you can't, don't wait. I don't think the CPU would make such a huge difference from the T9900. I'd rather invest the cost of the i7 in an SSD drive.

    Ah, right okay i will do.

    Well, i'm trying to weigh the options, don't know whether the lower end Core i7 720M will be better or worse as the T9900 or P8800.

    There's also the fact that when Windows 7 is officially out, there will be a stream of new laptops like the Toshiba Qasimo X500 and the Acer 8940G, i'm just trying to predict whether they will be within that budget range or more, considering the price the CPU will be.
