Last week I recived my laptop from ebay.
After a few days used, I noticed that the RGB screen got some flecks on it.
At first I though they were dust but when I tried to cleared it, it still stuck there.
Then I though it could be something stuck behind the screen cover.

I found the video in the forums intructed how to clear the dust behind the screen.
YouTube - Opening the screen of Dell's Studio XPS 1640

But I can not sure they were dust or dirty spot or dead pixes or something else.
so I am afraid I can not clear the flecks and make it worse.

I post some pics here, plz help me diagnose what they could be.

I dont want to call dell support because the current screen is fine (no flicker, color is great..) except the flecks, I had read some threads said that the replacements were not good...

Doesn't look bad pixels to me which leaves only a few options.

    1) Contact the seller and get a partial refund assuming it came that way, then use it as is.
    2) Open it up and clean it
    3) If #2 doesn't work out, then contact Dell as your last resort. Have them swap the whole display unit assuming they have one in stock.

Last week, I noticed some dust under the screen of my Dell Studio XPS 1647. I contacted Dell through their chat support and they replaced the entire RGBLED screen. Though they say that the replacement screen is refurbished, it looks brand new to me.

#2 is very unlikely to work out.

If I'm right you're talking about removing the LCD glass with PCB attached to get under it to the diffusers.
If you even touch a diffuser like that without extremely clean gloves and in a dust free environment, its only going to make it worse.

Unless there is a protector over the LCD?

There's an "edge-to-edge" plastic sheet in front of the entire LCD assembly.
