I'm expecting my lappy from USA in 1 month time (T9300, 4GB, discrete gpu, LED, 6 cells bat). In the mean time, with your kind help, I'd like to address some confusions/queries here. Your help will be very helpful.

    1. Does it make those 'plastic sqeezing' type noises when you put your hand on the palmrest, while closing & opening the lead, etc?

My current Inspiron-8600 does that (but it lasted for about 4 yrs). I don't hear that kind of noise in my mates' Toshiba or Sony

    2. The lid will be black. I was wondering how good is it when it comes to being scratch proof? what about the edges (same thing)?

    Thanks you :)

    1. Nope. Or at least, it shouldn't. There's always the off chance that you receive a defective system (not trying to be disconcerting here lol ;) ).

    2. The black lid has a matte finish, so it shouldn't scratch easily at all unless you decide to drop a sharp rock on it. The edges are matte too, but since they're silver, probably a tad easier to scratch. Overall it's pretty scratchproof.

Seems my XPS_M1330 (T9300, 4GB, discrete GPU, WLED, 320 GB [5.4k]) will be delivered on 16th- surprisingly very fast since it was ordered on 3rd of July. Hopefully everything will be fine, hardware-wise...

Now to my next question (sorry, i've seen this been posted somewhere on NBR- but i can't find it now)- what 'terms' should I look for in the hardware profiles for the LED screen?

    Thanks :)

Just wanted to add that the matte black cover shows fingerprints pretty easily.

It's not scratch proof (without protection). I got a small scratch near the logo (don't know how it happened or when), and I take very good care of it.

I applied a 'leather' dark grey skin on it, so it:

    - covers the scratch
    - prevents new ones
    - does not attract fingerprints
    - looks better than the black

Got my laptop delivered to my uncles address today. I'll get it on the 1st week of August. He said it's pretty good. I asked him to do some monkey tests lol

    Hopefully it'll be fine :)
