Yes it is safe to delete the MediaDirect partition

windows 7 work great on my m1530

I don't see any trouble to upgrade to Windows 7. But at the first days, some issues might occur since the drivers needs to be updated to get along well with the OS

Thank you! I've been waiting for like 12 hours that I've been searching and couldn't get a clear response. So I should be fine so long as I don't press the MediaDirect Button to boot right?

Right, though I've heard it's possible to reassign the button to load something other than Mediadirect. It might be better to remove the recovery partition and not bother with the Mediadirect button. I find the recovery partition useless but that's up to you.

I remapped my MediaDirect button to launch Windows Media Center by setting the path via regedit:
In Windows 7, you may have to create 0 (a new key) under HotStartButtons, and add the new string named ApplicationPath, with the value of the string being a path to what you want the button to execute.Code:HKLM\System\ControlSet001\Control\MobilePC\HotStartButtons\0 > ApplicationPath (string)
You can also make it boot other things:
