    Hello,

just formatted my laptop and am having trouble installing the sound driver. The driver CD is in a different city, so I downloaded the Sigmatel driver from Dell's site. Everytime I run it gives me a "kb835221.exe has encountered an error etc" message, but the installation appears to continue. After reboot I get an "this application won't work on this system" error.

I tried to download the driver off a different site but still get the same errors.

Anyone had a similar problem? Any advice?

    Thanks

Hey, I have the exact same problem as you. I found that page too during my research, but I tried to download and run KB835221.exe and the error is still there.

Can you please tell me what did you do? Did you solve the problem with the second .exe? Thanks

EDIT: Ok, I found a solution, too. Not with this fix, but through the driver of conexant modem. That was the problem, now the audio works fine.
